Need an image prepared for a standard A4 page? PixConvio lets you resize image to A4 size while keeping control over orientation, print quality, and image fitting.

Upload a JPG, PNG, or WebP image, then choose portrait or landscape A4. You can keep the complete picture visible or fill the entire page. The preview helps you check cropping and positioning before downloading the finished image.

How to Resize an Image to A4 Size

You do not need to calculate A4 dimensions manually. The converter handles the required measurements based on your selected settings.

1. Upload Your Image

Choose a JPG, PNG, or WebP image from your device. After uploading, check the original pixel dimensions shown by the tool.

Starting with a larger, sharper source usually produces better print results.

2. Choose Portrait or Landscape

Select the orientation that matches your image and intended print.

  • Portrait A4: 210 × 297 mm
  • Landscape A4: 297 × 210 mm

A portrait photograph usually fits portrait A4 with less adjustment. Landscape images often work better with landscape A4.

3. Choose How the Image Fits

Select Keep Whole Image when every part must remain visible. Some blank space may appear when the image proportions differ from A4.

Select Fill A4 Page when you want edge-to-edge coverage. The tool may crop small areas to match the A4 aspect ratio.

4. Select Print Quality

Choose 150, 300, or 600 DPI based on your intended output. For most high-quality photo and document printing, 300 DPI is a practical choice.

Check the live preview, then convert and download your A4 image.

What Is A4 Image Size?

A4 is a standardized paper size measuring 210 × 297 millimeters in portrait orientation. Landscape A4 uses the same page with its dimensions reversed.

The same size can be expressed using different measurement units:

MeasurementPortrait A4Landscape A4
Millimeters210 × 297 mm297 × 210 mm
Centimeters21 × 29.7 cm29.7 × 21 cm
Inches8.27 × 11.69 in11.69 × 8.27 in

A4 does not have one fixed pixel size. Its pixel dimensions depend on the DPI selected for the output.

This distinction matters when you convert image to A4 size for printing rather than screen display.

A4 Size in Pixels at Different DPI

DPI determines how many pixels are used for each printed inch. Increasing DPI therefore increases the pixel dimensions required for the same A4 page.

Print SettingPortrait A4Landscape A4Suitable For
150 DPI1240 × 1754 px1754 × 1240 pxBasic printing
300 DPI2480 × 3508 px3508 × 2480 pxHigh-quality printing
600 DPI4961 × 7016 px7016 × 4961 pxDetailed print work

For example, an A4 image at 300 DPI requires approximately 2480 × 3508 pixels in portrait orientation.

Choosing 600 DPI does not automatically make every image sharper. If the uploaded picture has limited source resolution, creating more output pixels cannot restore detail that was never present.

Useful rule: Check the source image resolution before selecting extremely high DPI.

How to Resize Image to A4 Size Without Distortion

A common resizing mistake is forcing the original width and height directly into A4 proportions.

That can make people, objects, logos, and text appear stretched.

Keep the Whole Image or Fill the Page?

The correct choice depends on what matters most.

Keep Whole Image preserves everything inside the original picture. When its aspect ratio differs from A4, space may remain around the edges.

Fill A4 Page covers the complete A4 area without stretching. Because the proportions must remain natural, some image content may be cropped.

For documents, scanned pages, certificates, and graphics, keeping the whole image is usually safer. For photographs where edge-to-edge coverage matters, filling the page often looks better.

Match the Orientation to Your Image

Before converting, compare the source orientation with your A4 selection.

A wide landscape photo placed on portrait A4 needs considerably more adjustment. Switching to landscape A4 may preserve more of the photograph.

PixConvio’s orientation check helps identify this mismatch before conversion.

Check the Original Resolution

Suppose your uploaded photograph is 4000 × 6000 pixels. Creating an A4 image at 300 DPI requires fewer pixels, so there is plenty of source detail available.

A 700 × 1000 pixel source is different. Enlarging it to 2480 × 3508 pixels requires the browser to create additional pixel information, which can make the result softer.

This gives you a useful quality check:

Source resolution → A4 resolution required → expected enlargement → likely print quality

That is more reliable than choosing the highest DPI available.

Convert JPG and Photos to A4 Size

You can use the same A4 conversion process with common photographic formats.

A JPG to A4 size conversion works well for regular photographs because JPG provides broad compatibility and manageable file sizes.

PNG can be useful for graphics, screenshots, or images requiring transparency. WebP provides another efficient option for modern image workflows.

The important point is that format and dimensions are different settings.

Converting a JPG into PNG does not make it A4. An A4 size converter must create the correct page proportions and pixel dimensions for your chosen orientation and DPI.

When Should You Use an A4 Size Converter?

A4 conversion is useful whenever an image needs to fit a standard physical page.

Common examples include:

  • Preparing photographs for A4 printing
  • Fitting scanned documents onto A4 pages
  • Preparing certificates and printable forms
  • Creating graphics for school assignments
  • Preparing office documents for printing
  • Converting pictures into standard A4 dimensions

The best settings can differ between these uses. A document may need every edge preserved, while a photograph may look better filling the complete page.

Common A4 Resizing Problems and Fixes

Most problems come from aspect ratio, orientation, or insufficient source resolution.

Always check the A4 preview before downloading. It can reveal cropping and orientation problems that pixel numbers alone cannot show.

A4 Image Converter FAQs

What is A4 size in pixels at 300 DPI?

Portrait A4 at 300 DPI is approximately 2480 × 3508 pixels. Landscape A4 reverses those dimensions to approximately 3508 × 2480 pixels.

What are A4 dimensions in inches?

A4 measures approximately 8.27 × 11.69 inches in portrait orientation. Its standard metric dimensions are 210 × 297 millimeters.

Can I convert a JPG to A4 size?

Yes. Upload the JPG, select portrait or landscape, choose how it should fit, and select the required DPI. The converter then creates the corresponding A4 pixel dimensions.

Should I use 150 or 300 DPI for A4 printing?

150 DPI can work for basic printing where fine detail matters less. 300 DPI is generally the better choice for high-quality photographs and detailed documents, provided your source image has sufficient resolution.

Why does my image get cropped when converted to A4?

Your image probably has a different aspect ratio from an A4 page. Filling the complete page requires cropping some content. Choose Keep Whole Image when preserving every part matters more than edge-to-edge coverage.

Can this tool convert a PDF to A4 size?

This tool is designed for image files such as JPG, PNG, and WebP. Resizing existing PDF pages to A4 is a different process and should use a dedicated PDF-to-A4 converter.

Resize Your Image to A4 Size

To resize image to A4 size correctly, start with the required orientation and print quality. Then decide whether preserving the complete image or filling the page matters more.

Check the source-resolution warning and live A4 preview before converting. This simple process helps avoid unnecessary cropping, stretching, and blurry print results.
